ELKHART — Lee Earl Hawkins Sr., 85, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully to join his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 8.
He was born April 23, 1930, in Grant County, to Kenneth C. and Caroline (Stauffer) Hawkins.
His beloved wife, Pauline, survives with two daughters, Kay (James) Kistler of Hendersonville, N.C., and Carol (Michael) Clark of Carmel; one son, Lee E. Hawkins Jr. of Elkhart; one sister, Rebecca Hepler of Warsaw; nine loving grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one sister, Jacqueline Howk, and two brothers, Kenneth C. Hawkins II and Ralph E. Hawkins.
Lee retired from Nickles Bakery and was a member of New Testament Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Billings Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Aman of New Testament Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Whitehead Cemetery, New Paris.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Testament Baptist Church or Bashor Children's Home in memory of Lee.
