August 12, 1940 – October 23, 2022
Lawrence F. "Larry" Reverman Sr., 82, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 23, 2022, at the Raclin Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, surrounded by love and his family. Lawrence was born on August 12, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Theodore L. and Virginia (Scanlan) Reverman Sr. He married his true love and best friend Margaret "Carole" Reinhart on April 24, 1965.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Carole, five sons Larry Jr (Lisa), Mark (Anne), Michael (Julie), Matthew (Gretchen) and Marty (Laura); 14 grandchildren, Larry, III, Lucas, Lesley, Taylor, Alexander, Nicholas, Abigail Amundson, Emily Griffin, Nathan, Aaron, Chelsea Bohs, Lanie Wade, Margaret, and Samuel; and one great grandchild Oakleigh Amundson; also surviving is a brother: Theodore, Jr (Julie), one sister, Judy; 9 nieces and nephews, and 11 great nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne.
He was a member of St. Vincent and St. Thomas parishes in Elkhart.
Lawrence graduated from Bellarmine College in 1962 and received his PhD in Organic Chemistry from The University of Louisville in 1966. He completed a Postdoctoral appointment at the University of Louisville School of Pharmacology from 1966 -1968 and moved with his family to Elkhart.
He worked at Miles Laboratory/Bayer from 1968 until 1988 and retired from KiK Kustom Products in 2006.
He holds several patents and was a member of the American Chemistry Society.
His love of music started with lessons in elementary school, participated in marching band at Flaget High School. While in college and graduate school, he played in dance bands and the Holy Name Band and Choral Club. He was a member of the New Horizon Band in Elkhart. He also sang in the church choir and Sounds of Celebration at St. Vincent dePaul Church in Elkhart.
Lawrence enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan. He coached his five sons in the Concord Little League program over a period of ten years. His favorite teams were the Cincinnati Reds, Green Bay Packers, and University of Kentucky Basketball. "GO CATS!"
Lawrence will be remembered as a kind, generous, and compassionate man who loved his faith and family. His dry wit and smile will be missed by many friends and acquaintances.
Visitation for Larry will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday October 27, 2022, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with an additional hour of visitation on Friday, October 28, 2022, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church 1108 S. Main St. Elkhart. Rev. Craig Borchard will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart. No flowers please, kindly consider memorials in Larry's name to either St. Vincent dePaul Church or the St. Vincent dePaul Society Food Pantry.
