Laurence "Larry" John Izak, 71, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his home.

Larry was born on September 2, 1952 in Gary, IN to the late, Theodore "Ted" and Lucille (Zale) Izak.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ted; daughter, Jaime Chesney; and mother of his children, Deborah K. (Pietzko) Izak.

Larry is survived by his mother, Lucille; sons, Steven (Lola) Izak and Philip (Amanda) Izak; grandchildren, Addison Guiza, Miles Izak, Alexander Izak and Natalia Izak; great grandchildren, Josephine Guiza and Abel Guiza; brothers and sister, Dave, Ted, Kenny, Bob, Mike, Joe and Karen; son-in-law, Steve Chesney and many nieces and nephews.

Larry graduated from the class of 1970 at Andrean High School in Gary, IN. He was a steel rule die maker most recently at Atlas and American Steel Rule Manufacturing. In his early years, Larry enjoyed golf and family road trips. He was a tinkerer at heart and enjoyed learning new skills by watching You Tube.

Larry was an avid fan of football. His favorite team was the Chicago Bears, meanwhile following the career of Patrick Mahomes. Larry was a faithful fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines Football Team and often rooted for the Chicago Cubs.

Larry enjoyed going to the drag races, shooting pool and darts. In his spare time, Larry listened to classic rock, watched classic tv (The Three Stooges being a favorite), binge watched Netflix and his favorite action movies.

Larry was known for sharing his astute wisdom, witty sense of humor and most of all, an infinite love for his family.

A Funeral Service for Larry will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.

Friends and family may gather with the family from 4:00 pm to  6:00 pm before the start of the service at the funeral home.
