SOUTH BEND -- Better known as "Lolly" to all that knew her, Laura Lorraine Sapen passed away at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday in her home, surrounded by her family.
Laura was born in Pinehurst, N.C., to, and survived by, Hubert and Betty Davis. She is also survived by siblings Hubert Davis Jr., Donna Baxter and E.J. Davis.
Laura was married to R. Douglas Sapen in Sarasota, Fla., on May 1, 1980, at First Baptist Church.
Laura is survived by husband R. Douglas; son Nathan Sapen of South Bend; daughter Amanda Hickman of Virginia Beach, Va., and daughter Ashley Sapen of South Bend.
Laura, husband and children lived together in Elkhart for 29 years before moving to South Bend.
Lolly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and "Aunt Lolly" to all who knew her. To sum up Lolly's life in the written word would require volumes but summed up in one word would be "incredible."
A private family gathering and service took place Thursday (Aug. 5, 2010) at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
