ELKHART — Larry Lee Todt, 71, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart following an extended illness.

He was born, in Elkhart, May 9, 1945, to the late Donald E. and Carol E. (Coggins) Todt, and later married Debra J. Wogomon, who survives him at home.

Also surviving are his son, Jon (Joannie) Todt of Edwardsburg, Mich.; grandchildren Anthony Tibbits-Warren and Leigh and Jake Todt; sister Kelly Kielce; and brothers Greg (Garnet) and Tom Todt and Tim Collins.

Larry's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart with visitation from 10 a.m. until noon, with the service starting at noon Thursday, Sept. 1. Pastor Steve Steel from the Kessington (Mich.) Community Church will officiate the Christian services and Clarence Syrette and Clarence White will officiate the Native American ceremonies. Military honors will follow the services and will be rendered by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV Post No. 19.

Larry served in the U. S. Army Special Forces (Green Berets) during the Vietnam Era for 10 years.

He held multiple post-graduate degrees from schools including Bethel College, Notre Dame and SMC/Dowagiac, spoke several languages fluently and worked more than 40 years as a mold technician at Elkhart's CTS Corp.

He was quite proud of his Native American Ojibwe heritage and was an avid lover of horses, classic cars and building and maintaining model railroads.

The family has requested that in lieu of cut flowers, memorials be made with live plants or donations to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or to the Hospice Foundation.
