Obituary


ELKHART — Larry G. Heckman, 81, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, March 3, while in his residence.

He was born Oct. 20, 1933, in Elkhart.

Survivors include three daughters, Laurie (Jerry) Everest of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Debra VanDusen and Michele Romans, both of Elkhart; two brothers, Charles Quick of Marshall, Mich., and Jack Quick of Three Rivers, Mich.; two sisters, Nona (Bruce) Lund of Elkhart and Charleen (Tom) McNulty of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia J. (Schieber) Heckman; mother Mary A. (Shaffer) Quick; three sisters; and three brothers.

Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was later employed as a security guard for many years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Elkhart Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19 and Bristol American Legion Post 143.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, in Prairie Street Cemetery. Chaplain Andy Williams of DAV Chapter 19 will officiate.
