ELKHART — Kent E. Worthen, 74, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 22, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital following a battle with cancer.
He was born April 5, 1938, in Concord, N.H., to the late Eugene Leon and Cora Barbara (Pickel) Worthen. He married Doris M. Wolfe in 1979. She died on May 29, 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Jostes and husband Rob of Marysville, Ohio; granddaughter Kathryn Jostes of Marysville; brother Trent Millet of Newport, Vt.; a sister, Bonnie Lorimer of Newport; stepmother Virginia Worthen of Concord; and his former wife, Beverly Worthen of Michigan.
Kent was a self-employed truck driver.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960. He was a life member of the VFW and enjoyed building very detailed model boats.
Kent was a very giving person, who always had time to help a friend or stranger in need.
In keeping with his request, cremation has taken place at Altera Cremation Services under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Doris, in Prairie Street Cemetery at a future date.
