Obituary

ELKHART- Kent Leroy Reitz, 66, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at home. He was born October 26, 1948 in Benton Harbor, MI to Henry J. and Evelyn (Trapp) Reitz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Reitz.

He is survived by his wife Delores (Dee) Reitz of Elkhart; mother, Evelyn Reitz of St. Joseph, MI; 2 brothers, Bradford (Bonnie) Reitz of Bridgeman, MI and Dr. Kelton (Todd Trimberger) Reitz of Sturgeon Bay, WI; step-son, Michael (April) Schwendeman of Loudonville, OH; 4 step-grandchildren, Megan, Makaylah, Jacob and Sarah Schwendeman, all of Loudonville, OH and nephew, John Reitz of Bridgeman, MI.

Kent was a 1966 graduate of Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, MI. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1969-1973. Kent worked in the tool and die, aerospace and medical supply industries in various capacities, focusing on metrology work later in his career.

Kent was fond of classic cars and was in the process of restoring his beloved 1955 Ford pickup. On most Thursday nights during the summer, Kent would be seen walking around the rows of vehicles at the car show in Middlebury, IN.

He also had a passion for his motorcycles and dogs, having owned many of them over the years. Kent loved to travel, often taking camping trips with his wife Dee on their motorcycle, pulling a trailer with the dogs riding along.
Kent dearly loved his wife Dee, his family, his many friends near and far and his dog Sadie.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 1:00 PM in Prairie Street Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the US Army and the DAV 19.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to AseraCare Hospice in memory of Kent.
