GOSHEN -- Kenneth LaVerne Hall, 79, of Goshen, formerly of Cassopolis, Mich., died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday (July 28, 2009) in Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Cass County, Mich., to George Henry and Verna Mae (Ryan) Hall. On Dec. 20, 1953, he married Shirley A. Blough in Goshen.
She survives along with one daughter, Sandy (Charles) White of Goshen; two sons, Bruce (Peggy) Hall of Cassopolis and Roger (Patti) Hall of Joshua, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth DuFour of Cassopolis.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Welcome and Chester Hall and Devere Dick.
Mr. Hall had worked at the Blough Dairy, Goshen, from 1954 to 1974. He attended Chapel Hill Missionary Church in Union, Mich., and enjoyed fishing, working on vehicles and gardening. He loved vacationing with his family and helping others.
Mr. Hall was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as an engineer from 1951 to 1953.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. memorial service at the Gathering Place on Greencroft Campus, 1325 Greencroft Drive, Goshen. Pastor Don Matteson of Chapel Hill Missionary Church will officiate. Cremation will take place.
