He was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Elkhart to Pete and Minamae (Young) Mansfield.
He is survived by his two sons, Nelson (Jackie) Whitecotton of Scottsdale, Ariz., and David K. (Connie) Ritchie of Goshen; one daughter, Peggy (Dan) Sturzl of Laona, Wis.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his companion of 15 years, Marguerite "Rita" Hawkins of Elkhart; and three brothers, Victor (Helen) Mansfield of Lakeland, Fla., and Hudson and Donald D. (Mary) Mansfield, both of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard R. and Waldo W. Mansfield.
Friends may call two hours prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. David Ottsen of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Mishawaka, will officiate and burial with graveside services will follow the service at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
Mr. Mansfield was a machinist and retired from M-3 & Associates. He was a partner with Kel-John Inc. and formerly worked at Whitehall Laboratories. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on muscle cars and spending time with his and Rita's cat.
