Katrina Shaukera Strowder, 16, formerly of Elkhart, was taken too soon on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Katrina was born on November 14, 2005 in Goshen, IN to Earl Carpenter and Lynnette Strowder. She is preceded in death by her grandmothers Linda Mae Strowder and Ruthie Mae Carpenter and Uncle Mookie.
Katrina is survived by her parents Lynnette Strowder of Indianapolis and Earl Carpenter of Elkhart; brothers and sisters, Danielle Buford, Anthony Jackson, Danny Buford, Adante Jackson, Paris Buford, Katrice Buford, Passion Buford, Jazmin Carpenter, Arlonnie Jones and Dasmond England; special brothers, Alvin Sanders and Clarence Stacker; special sisters, Xzira Wilson and Ashley Culbreath; nieces and nephews, La'Nyiah Jackson, Damari Culbreath, Harmoni Buford, Ahmariana Jackson, Ka'Mya Sanders, Damani Culbreath, Sincere Buford, Khalani Sanders, Ja'sere Buford, Myonna Buford, Rodney Carpenter, Damyran Culbreath, dear to heart Alonzo Weekly; special brother, Rodney Steveson; special sister, Aisha Hines; Godmother to all/Auntie, Clara Washington and a host of uncles and aunties and cousins and special friends.
Katrina was a vibrant young lady. She had a spirit that was full of life. Katrina had big dreams of becoming a cosmetologist. She enjoyed art, cooking, singing and dancing. Katrina enjoyed being around children and was respectful to the elderly. She always knew the right thing to say to make people smile and forget about their problems
Katrina was "daddy's girl" and always looking for her "star".
She was well loved by her friends and family, especially her brothers and sisters and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation for Katrina will be held from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46531.
A Homegoing Service for Katrina will be held at 12:00pm Noon on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 1829 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46516 with Rev. Pastor Nichols Cossey, Sr., officiating. An 1 hour visitation will occur from 11:00am-12:00 pm prior to the start of the service.
Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
