Obituary

Mrs. Kathryn Lee (Kathy) Lemna, 67, of Elkhart, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following complications from a routine surgery on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021 at 8:10 am. Kathy was born on March 12, 1954 in South Bend to the late Carol Samuel and Maryann (Goodyear) McCormack, and later married Lee William Lemna on July 1, 1978. Lee passed away in June of 1997.

Surviving Kathy are her children Kristi (John) Meadows of Middlebury, Kyle (Rachel Mast) of Elkhart and grandchildren Kalynn and Weston Meadows, as well as Kaigen Lemna. Kathy is preceded in death by several other members of the Lemna family, including two grandchildren, Addison and Quinn Lemna and her faithful canine companions Sage and Sully.

Kathy's family plans to gather at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm for some fellowship and to celebrate Kathy's life. No public service has been scheduled; there will be only a visitation that Thursday. Cremation will follow, and Kathy's remains will be laid to rest on Monday, November 8, 2021 at a private family service at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.

Kathy was a 1972 graduate from Edwardsburg High School and had retired a few years back as one of the groundskeepers at the Elks Club / Christiana Creek Country Club Golf Course in Elkhart, where she had worked for almost 40 years. She was also a member of the Michigan United Conservation Club and the Edwardsburg Conservation Club, as well as a former member of the Cleveland Township Fire Department's Ladies' Auxiliary.

When she wasn't trimming hedges or riding one of those awesome high-powered golf course zero turn mowers, she chose to spend her time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved them dearly and enjoyed spending every moment she could with them, as they were the center of her little universe. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching her Denver Broncos or Colorado Rockies play when they were on TV, Facebooking with friends, doing puzzles and dabbling in home design. And we wouldn't want to forget Bella, her beloved shepherd-mix pal that followed her everywhere.

Memorial donations may be given to the Kathy Lemna Memorial Fund in care of her daughter, Kristi. Friends and relatives are encouraged to read the entire obit and leave condolences, memories and/or pictures of Kathy by clicking "Tribute Wall" on her obituary page on the funeral home's website and then following the prompts.
