Kathleen C. "Kitty" (Kimes) Rowe, 84, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at the Elkhart Hospice House on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Kitty was born on November 2, 1935 in Elkhart to the late A.F. and Beatrice Versa (Fishley) Kimes.
She married the love of her life, Lee Rowe, on November 7, 1959 and they spent 32 wonderful years together before his passing in 1991. Kitty is survived by her son, Rhett (Stacy Likes) Rowe; brother, Michael (Cindy) Kimes; sister in law, Marilyn; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Barbara, Candrice, Robert Jr., Jason, Ryan, Michael, Richard, and Brian. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Robert and Charles Kimes; and sister in laws, Madeline Kimes and Jean Kimes.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 (with proper social distancing procedures to be followed, please bring a face mask) at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart, IN. A service will be held at noon following the visitation and officiated by Pastor Ted Stanley of Trinity Lutheran Church of Elkhart Indiana. Burial will immediately follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Memorial donations may go to the Elkhart Hospice House.
Kitty ran the Associated Federal Credit Union for over 40 years prior to retiring at the age of 80. She had a love for her community of Elkhart and never missed a chance to work the voting polls every election. She also accompanied her husband when he used to be a part of the Elkhart Vintage Car Club. In her days at Elkhart High School, she proudly served as the majorette of her high school marching band and was a nationally ranked baton twirler.
