Katherine W. Casey, 94, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Hubbard Hill. She was born on January 30, 1927, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Joseph Bickmann and Gladys W. Warden.
She married Robert J. Casey on October 5, 1946, he died on June 26,1980 after 34 years of marriage. Surviving is her son Robert J (Meg) Casey, daughters, Sharon (Robert) Roche, Pamela Casey (Robert Rust); 7 grandchildren, Thomas, Lauchlan, Travis (Cori) DeLucenay, Justin (Ann) DeLucenay, Casey (Kyle Berry) DeLucenay; Katie Rust, and Robert Rust; 2 step-grandchildren Andrew (Yoli) Roche and Jennifer Starks Roche; as well as 11 great grandchildren. Nephews and nieces include Jacques, Delores and Joseph Weaver.
In addition to her husband Robert, a sister Gladys Weaver preceded her in death.
Katherine worked as an administrative assistant in the insurance industry in New Orleans for 40 plus years. After she retired and moved to Elkhart, Katherine became heavenly involved in the Catholic church and was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She participated in prayer groups, funeral dinners, alter society, alter linen cleaning, rosary society and the soup kitchen as well as volunteering in many additional activities.
Katherine loved her home, gardening, bird watching and especially cooking Cajun food.
Her passion in life was her family and her church. Late in life she enjoyed limited traveling, her favorite trip was to Medjugorje (airline lost her luggage). She was lovingly involved in raising
her grand-daughter, Casey Katherine, who was named after her.

She will be missed by all.
Visitation for Katherine will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 2-5 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. The evening will conclude with the praying of the rosary at 4:30 p.m.
Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, with an additional hour of visitation prior at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. 1405 N. Main St. Elkhart. Rev. Jason Freiburger will officiate (live streaming is available for those unable to attend, http://www.stthomaselkhart.com). Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. Elkhart. In lieu of flowers, Katherine's family kindly request memorials to St. Thomas. Condolences may be made online at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
