ELKHART -- Karen Sue White, 59, of Elkhart, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday (March 25, 2010) at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was born Dec. 27, 1950, in Mishawaka to the late Edward C. and Dorothy L. (Risner) White. Karen is also preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert E. "Gene" Moore.
Surviving are her daughter, Melissa R. Hoopes of Muskogee, Okla.; brother Dwight L. White and sister Hilda F. Scott, both of Elkhart; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A service will be at noon Thursday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Gary Ketcham of New Testament Bible Church in Elkhart will officiate. Entombment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Karen worked at Elkhart Bedding, retiring after 20 years for health reasons. She enjoyed traveling down south, collecting antiques, visiting flea markets and spending time with friends and family. She was a former member of the Osceola American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
