Karen Jean Allen, 52, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at her home after a long and courageous battle with MS. She was born on August 24, 1971, in Oakland, CA, to the late Earl Gene and Irene Viola (Young) Allen.

Karen is survived by her longtime companion, Carl Taylor; best friend and caregiver, Stephanie Villasenor; and beloved dogs, Tinkerbell and Bancito.

In accordance with Karen's wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services are scheduled at this time. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is assisting with arrangements.

Karen was a free-spirited soul who adored all the things nature had to offer. She enjoyed dabbling in the arts, creating feltwork pieces, paintings, jewelry, and scrapbooks. Moreso, she enjoyed tuning into the beloved painting show, The Joy of Painting, with Bob Ross.

Karen will best be remembered as an outspoken, outgoing, and strong woman who managed to make it through all the challenges that came her way. She was a true hippie at heart and all of the love and joy she shared will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.
