ELKHART — Judy Ann Nifong, 75, of Elkhart, passed away at home Thursday, Jan. 14, with her family by her side.
She was born May 28, 1940, in Elkhart, to Robert and June (Swank) Kirkwood. Judy married the love of her life, Darrell Nifong, on Dec. 27, 1958. They were married 54 years prior to his death on March 31, 2013.
Survivors include son Timothy Nifong of Elkhart; daughters Tammy Holobyn and Trudy (Tracy) Nifong-Bowser, both of Elkhart; sister Nancy (Robert) Beagle of Holland, Mich.; granddaughters Holly Holobyn of Tampa, Fla., and Mandi Bowser of Elkhart; and grandson Joseph Holobyn III of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Darrell.
Judy worked at ADEC Industries for 25 years as a supervisor. She was a Girl Scout leader at Horizon Learning Center. She and her husband were co-chairpersons of Elkhart County Special Olympics for 14 years.
Judy loved spending vacations at Maderia Beach, Fla. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and "Nana."
The family will receive loved ones and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, and one hour prior to the noon funeral service on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Tim Sheets will officiate. Interment will follow in Little Pine Cemetery.
