SOUTH BEND — Judy Sue Kettle, 60, residing in South Bend, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Judy was born on April 20, 1953, in Elkhart to James C. "Shorty" and Jean Carolyn (Bradshaw) Johnson.
She married Everett R. Kettle on Dec. 9, 1978, in South Bend.
He survives as well as her sons, David (Erica) Kettle and Bobby (Goldy Pausk-Sobih) Freshour, both of South Bend, Eugene (Tabitha Davis) Freshour of Mishawaka and Kevin Kettle of South Bend. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; and her twin sister, Betty Lou Berkey, and her father, James C. "Shorty" Johnson, both of Elkhart.
Her mother, Jean C. Johnson, preceded Judy in death.
Judy worked more than 12 years at Foegley landscaping in South Bend. She enjoyed gardening and collecting knick-knacks — especially pigs — and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with a celebration of life service for Judy beginning at 8 p.m. Pastor Ray Caudill will officiate. Judy will then be buried in Colbaugh Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tenn., on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013.
Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton is assisting with arrangements there.
