GOSHEN -- Juanita D. Minegar, 89, of 2400 College Ave., died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday (July 8, 2009) in Greencroft Healthcare Center.
She was born March 19, 1920, in Noble County to William H. and Mabel (Fish) Minegar.
Never married, Miss Minegar is survived by three sisters, Phyllis J. Oswald and Shirley M. Cook, both of Goshen, and Carol A. Bruce of Jasper, Ala.; and three brothers, Raymond H. (Sara) Minegar and Donald W. (Mary) Minegar, both of Elkhart, and Marvin E. Minegar of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hershel Emmons and Robert E. and Keith I. Minegar.
Miss Minegar helped her mother raise her nine siblings and during World War II worked in production at several area manufacturing facilities. Most of her adult life was spent caring for younger family and extended family members, which she enjoyed.
She liked to play cards, work in her garden, take walks, read her Bible and listen to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday nights. Miss Minegar was a member of the Elkhart South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than 50 years.
Cremation will take place. A memorial service at the South Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Elkhart, and burial in Prairie Street Cemetery will be at a later date. Leonard Konkle Jr. will officiate.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
