Joyce Elaine Vaughn, 81, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Joyce was born on October 25, 1941 in Goshen, IN to the late Jacob Elloyd Weigel and Mary Mildred (Overholt) Weigel. She was married to the late, Wendell S. Garber Jr. and remarried to S.L. "Whitey" "Red" Vaughn.

Joyce is preceded in death by her siblings Jeanette, Agnes and Betty.

Joyce is survived by her adopted "son", David Ruiz of Bellmead, TX; close friend, Robert "Bob" McCreary of Elkhart; and many extended family and friends.

Joyce graduated from Goshen High School. She was a care giver with Home Instead for Seniors. Joyce also worked at Essenhaus in Middlebury, GL Perry, IYL and Bayer Corp. She was a member of Riverview General Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed watching basketball and NASCAR in her spare time. In her early years, she was an avid bowler and fisher.

Joyce was happy go lucky and loved animals including her dogs.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 17, 2023 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the start of the service from 10:00 am-11:00 am at the funeral home.
