Joyce Eileen Carver, 86, of Granger, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Center for Hospice Care's Esther House in Elkhart. She was born on March 23, 1938, in Richmond, IN, to the late Lyle and Edna (Seaver) Carver.

Joyce is survived by her loving partner of 45 years, Frances "Kika" Brown, of Elkhart; nephews, Terry (Sue) Carver of Cape Coral, FL, and Chris (Amanda) Carver of Clayton, NC; niece, Janice Chavers of Carmel, IN; close friends, Maureen Bowersox, and Mary Pierson, both of Apex, NC; and beloved dog and loyal companion, Coco.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her four siblings, Lowell, Lyle, Lloyd, and Lois.

In accordance with Joyce's wishes, cremation has been chosen. Services for Joyce will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Billings Funeral Home, with visitation from 2 PM to 4 PM and a memorial service to immediately follow at 4 PM. Joyce's nephew, Terry Carver, will officiate.

Joyce proudly graduated from Ball State University with a BA in 1960 and continued her education at the University of Notre Dame where she obtained her MA in 1967. With her knowledge and passion for teaching, she humbly held the positions of teacher, counselor, and administrator for over 40 years with Elkhart Community Schools, dearly loving the ability to teach and inspire generations of students in the area.

In her spare time, Joyce could be found reading, making quilts, and traveling. Most importantly, her family and friends meant the world to her and brought so much joy into her life.

Joyce, along with all the love and happiness she shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.
