Josephine "Josie" White Wiley, 78 years of age, was called home to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, February 6. 2023.
Josie, one of nine children, was born May 5, 1944 in Burdette, Arkansas to the late Louis White and Ruby McKinney.
She married Willie Wiley on October 20, 1962, which whom she had two children. They moved to Elkhart, Indiana in 1968, where Josie became a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully served on the Usher Board and Pastor's Aide Committee.
She loved to travel, mostly to go shopping, and was known for her fashionable suits and hats. Josie was also an incredible cook and enjoyed baking cakes and making meals for her family. She was always surrounded by family and loved spending time with them.
Josie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty and one half years, Willie Wiley; one son, Tommy Wiley (Nyrie Williams) of Cassopolis, Michigan; one daughter, Katheline (DeVon Jr.) Goodrich of Goshen, Indiana; six grandchildren, who lovingly called her Meemaw and Meemee: Tonisha Jones, Toya Wiley, Teesha Wiley, Jasmine Goodrich, Tommy Wiley Jr., and Tyrone Wiley; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brothers: William McKinney Sr. of Helena, Arkansas; Tommie McKinney of Burdette, Arkansas; and Willie (Shirley) White of Elkhart, Indiana; goddaughter, Fern Palmer of Elkhart, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by five siblings: Lola Mae Torrance, Glorastein Brown, Erma Jean Wiley, Ethel White, and JoAnn Primas; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Allen.
Homegoing services celebrating the life of Josephine Wiley will begin at Noon (12 o'clock) with visitation 1 hour prior on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Community Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Clarence Jones will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.
