ELKHART — Josephine L. Kiernan, 92, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012, at her home.
She was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Jackson, Mich., to Clarence A. and Chloa E. (Garred) Finch. On Aug. 28, 1966, she married Harold E. Kiernan. He passed away on June 23, 1997.
Survivors include a sister, Caroline Manthei; nephew and niece, Beth and Richard Keirnan and nephew Jeff (Meri) Manthei, all of Leslie, Mich.; foster daughter Jean (Dan) Porch of Bolingbrook, Ill.; stepson John W. Kiernan of Elkhart; and several stepgrandchildren, foster grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Armine Finch, and a sister, Eleanor Thomas
Josephine was a loving homemaker and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Elkhart.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 30, 2012, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m.. funeral service Tuesday, May 1, 2012, also at Billings Funeral Home. Pastor Don Inglish will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
