Josephine "Jo" A. Dibley, 89, of Elkhart, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 1, 2021 in the love and comfort of her family. Jo was born on January 18, 1932 in Elkhart to the late Frank "Cheech" and Mary Grace (Turzo) Lucchese. She married her true love Michael John Dibley on May 30, 1956 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. Mike passed on October 22, 2011. To this beautiful union, 7 children survive to cherish her memory; Mary E. (Jim) Revas, Dr. Michael J. (Ram Brar) Dibley Jr.; Anthony P. Dibley, Dr. Andrew G. (Jenny) Dibley, Stephen G. (Rochelle) Dibley; Timothy D. (Kim) Dibley and Tina A. (Steve) Murphy; 42 grandchildren: Stephanie (Darrick) Gordon, Joseph (Theresa) Swabash, Jonathan (Amanda) Swabash, Michael B. (Ina) Dibley, Andrea (David) Campain, Katie, Emily and David Dibley, Nicholas, Luke and Christopher Dibley, Stephen, Joseph, Elizabeth, Abby, Kara (Alfonzo), Amanda, Stacy, Nathan, Lauren, Sarah, George, Alaina, Ellie, Sadie and Anthony Dibley, Alyssa Dibley, Annamarie (Chris) Huffman, Cassandra (Mitch) Eby, Spencer, Michaela, Joshua, Jessica, Noah, Sophia and Elijah Dibley, Eddie, Michael, Jake, JoJo, Emma and Matthew Murphy and 21 great grandchildren: Zipporah, Amira, DJ, Xavier, Miles, CiCi, Vida, JoeJoe, Sophia, Atlas, Samuel, Genevieve, Finneas, Magnolia, Estelle, Cesar, James, Grace, Lucy, Mason and Michael. Also surviving are a sister Mary S. Lucchese, brothers, John (Kathy) Lucchese, Dr. Anthony (Linda) Lucchese; Ralph (Michelle) Lucchese; sister-In-laws, Arlene Lucchese, Sheila Dibley, survive as well. In addition to her parents and husband Mike, a grandson Matthew Dibley; brothers Leonard Lucchese and Frank and sister-in-law Kay Lucchese preceded her in death.
Jo was a 1949 graduate of Elkhart High School. She had formerly worked for 1st. National Bank from 1948 until 1957. Her main passion and focus in life was being a loving mother and grandmother to her family, and a love for Jesus. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the rosary society, Martha and Mary quilting group, St. Thomas soup kitchen. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, Jo was a strong supporter of Elkhart Co. Right to Life. But what made her eyes light up, was spending time with her loving family and grandchildren.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 7, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Rosary at 7:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, with an additional 1 hour of calling from 10 am to 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St. Rev. Jason Freiburger will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
