ELKHART — Joseph L. "Joe" Bixby, 60, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born on April 17, 1952, in Dowagiac, Mich., to the late Joseph and Catherine Margaret (Acker) Bixby.
Joe married Darline Milbourn on April 19, 2008, in Elkhart.
Darline survives, as well as three sons, Jason Wetzel of Elkhart, Jeff Wetzel of Niles, Mich., and Timothy McDonald of Bristol; two daughters, Lisa Payne of Niles and Joann Garrison of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two goddaughters, Debbie Phillips and Tracy Jo Watton; a godson, Bob Cunningham; and brother Paul "Tim" (Sherryl) Bixby of Osceola.
Joe has worked for more than 30 years at Voyager Inc. of Elkhart. He was a 1972 graduate of Dowagiac High School. Joe was passionate about music, was an accomplished musician (guitar player) and enjoyed recording his own music.
A gathering of family and friends for Joe will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Pastor Robert Vickroy of Calvary Bible Church will officiate.
