Johnny Ray Rushing, 63, of Elkhart, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Thursday, April 9, 2025 at his home.
Johnny was born on February 10, 1962 in Pocahontas, AR to the late, John Charles Rushing and Loretta (Watts) Rushing. He married the love of his life Virginia (Smith) Rushing on October 25, 2000 in Elkhart.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, John and Loretta; siblings, Betty Jean Kyle, James Ray Rushing, Linda Mae Ford and Billy James Shelton; and nephews, Mark and Jim Rushing.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 25 years, Virginia Rushing of Elkhart; children, Ray (Robin) Bell of Goshen; Roy (Christi) Bell of Goshen, Rollie (Kathy) Bell of Elkhart, Ron (Nancy) Bell of Elkhart; grandchildren, Dakota (Courtney) Bell, Christina (James) Vaughn, Ashley Cooke (Don), Kayla (Jordan) Daly, Veronica (Samuel) Sherman and Rachel Bell; many great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Margaret Rushing of Elkhart, Buford Rushing of Elkhart, Kenneth (Beverly) Shelton of AR, Linda (James) Housh of Elkhart, Glenda (Dwayne) Osmun of AR, Mary Ann Haines of AR and Elmo (Carol) Shelton of AR.
Johnny served his country in the U.S. Navy. Johnny was a lifelong truck driver in the Elkhart area for many years.
Johnny and Virginia are members of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Elkhart.
Johnny was a "jack of all trades" and could fix anything (or find a way to do it). He was a fun loving and kind man. He was honest and would help anyone in need.
Johnny loved his country and was strong in his beliefs. He was an avid Elvis fan as well.
Most of all, Johnny was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
A Funeral will be held at 12:00pm noon on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN with Pastor Ron Bell of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the start of the service from 10:00am -12:00pm at the funeral home.
Burial and graveside service will follow at Olive West Cemetery.
