Obituary
ELKHART — John D. Woods, 53, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 2, at Elkhart General Hospital after an apparent heart attack.
John was born May 12, 1963, in Elkhart County, to Harry "Jerry" and Rose (Grise) Woods.
He married Anita G. Ellsworth on Oct. 8, 1988. in Goshen.
Surviving are his loving wife of 28 years, Anita G. Woods; sons Chad E. Ellsworth and (fiancé Kayla Gorney) of Elkhart, Kelvin S. Woods of Elkhart and his daughter Emily R. Woods (husband Rudy Jones) of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Braden T. Ellsworth, Jaxon C. Ellsworth and Adalee R. Jones; also brother Daniel (Becky) Woods of Niles, Mich.; and his mother, Rose Woods of Goshen.
John was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Woods.
John worked at Supreme Corp. in Goshen for 30 years.
He started working on the assembly line in the factory and held many positions leading up to his most current position as cost estimator/project manager.
John graduated in 1981 from Goshen High School.
He was an avid golfer, certified scuba diver, weightlifter and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast.
He enjoyed home improvement projects and was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need.
John is loved and will be missed by many.
John's life will be celebrated beginning with a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St.
The evening will conclude with a memorial service at 8 p.m.
A private burial will be at a later date.
