John E.
Poe
Feb 5, 1964 — Oct 10, 2026
John Edward Poe, born on February 5, 1964, passed unexpectedly at home on October 10 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and family who will forever cherish the love he gave and the life he lived.
In 1998, John met his soulmate and life partner, Julie Gaspar. Together they shared a bond built on love, companionship, and many memories made throughout their life together. Julie held a special place in John's heart, and their life together became an important part of his story.
John's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He treasured the moments spent together, whether gathered with loved ones, enjoying the outdoors, fishing, playing horseshoes, hunting for mushrooms, or whittling. He found happiness in life's simple pleasures and in the time he shared with the people he loved. John was the kind of person who was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed him. His generous spirit and willingness to be there for others was a reflection of the caring man he was.
John leaves behind his beloved life partner, Julie Gaspar; his daughter, Heather Poe of Elkhart, and his son, Jacob Gaspar of Ocala Fl. He was a proud grandfather of five grandchildren; Haylee Upham, Natalie Caverley, Kj Upham, Joseph Gaspar, Kali Gaspar. He also leaves behind his great-grandson, Kane, who added another special generation to the family he loved so dearly. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Hart of Walkerton, Deedee(Edith) Poe of Elkhart; his nieces, Sara (Jamie) Paulson, Andria (Kevin) Burkus, Stephanie (Aaron) Santa, Melanie (Derek) Lenhart, Tara (Norm) Dial, and Elizabeth (Brian) Carlson; and his nephews, Ryan Poe, Kyle (Amanda) Poe, along with many other loved ones who will miss him dearly.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ada Margaret Poe; his sisters, Debra Bagwell, Dixie Myers; and brother, LaRue Poe. Though John's passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, the memories he created will remain forever. He will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation of the outdoors, his helpful nature and the countless little moments that made him who he was.
John's life was a reminder that love is often found in the simplest things: time spent together, a helping hand when it is needed most, and memories that stay with us long after a loved one is gone.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he may be gone from sight, the love he shared and the memories he leaves behind will live on for generations to come.
Rest peacefully, John, You will never be forgotten.
