Obituary

BRISTOL — John W. Paul, 97, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on March 9, 1919, in Elkhart to Claude and Lilly Paul.

He married Irene M. Lowell.

Surviving is his wife Irene W. Paul; son, Charles (Deborah) Paul of Middlebury, daughter Pam (Wally) Ross of Bristol, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

John worked as a signal repairman for New York Central Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and retired from Conrail.

He was a graduate of Bristol High School and a long-time member of St. John of The Cross Episcopal Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 until his honorable discharge in 1946 and was a member of the Bristol American legion Post 88.

He enjoyed traveling and crossword puzzles.

Private graveside services have already taken place in the St. John Episcopal Church Cemetery.

A memorial mass celebrating John's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2017 at St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church 601 E. Vistula St. Bristol, IN 46507.

Reverend Jen Fulton of St. John's will officiate.

Folding of the flag and playing of Taps will be rendered by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard at the church.
