Obituary
ELKHART -- John L. Overholt, 76, of Elkhart, died Monday (Feb. 21, 2011) at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Terre Haute to the late Fern Overholt.
Surviving are a son, John G. Overholt; daughters Janelle (Rick) Hastings, Ruth (Patrick) Zamtowski and Donna Mattson; stepsons Mike, Chris and Ronnie Scott; stepdaughters Sherry Scott, Karen Roy, Geneva Walker and Dee Dee Scott; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and sisters Georgiana (Richard) Crothers and Rosie (Carl) Woodward.
John was a truck driver for Amerimax Building Products, Bristol, where he worked for 43 years. He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1954 and served in the U. S. Navy from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957. He was an avid bowler, NASCAR fan and enjoyed classic cars.
At his request, cremation has taken place through Veterans Funeral Care at Billings Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
