OTSEGO, Mich. — John D. Morrison, 49, of Otsego, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness.
He was born in Plainwell, Mich., to John R. and Janet F. (Smith) Morrison on Jan. 21, 1963. Along with his father, John was also preceded in death by a brother, Roderick. His mother, Janet, survives.
Also surviving is his sweetheart, best friend and mother of his children, Lori S. Sparks; daughters Randi and Autumn Morrison; sons Nathan, Dakota, Joseph, Indiana, Joshua and Michael Morrison, all of Shipshewana; sisters Ann M. (Steve) Pegg of Otsego and Lauri F. (Rick) Frichtl of Paxton, Ill.; and brothers Gregory A. (Susan) Morrison of Jonesville and Bradley S. (Sarah) Morrison of Vicksburg.
In accordance with the family's wishes, John will be cremated. There will be a memorial celebration of John's life at Shipshewana Church of the Nazarene, 2695 N. 900 W,, Shipshewana, at 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Pastor Andy Dayton will officiate, and a private burial will follow on the family's farm.
John was a farmer and a meat cutter at several area Michiana grocery stores for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a diehard University of Michigan fan. He enjoyed spending his free time with his children.
