John Thomas Kerr, 77, of Vandalia, MI, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital.

John was born in South Bend on November 23, 1945 to the late Thomas and Julia (Gramza) Kerr. John was married to the late, Linda E. (Brown) Kerr. She passed away on March 13, 2015.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; daughter, Joan Kerr; sister, Joann Boepple; niece, Jill Boepple and nephew, Jim Boepple.

John is survived by his daughter, Kristen (Jeff) Smith of Elkhart; stepsons, Andrew and Barry Hart; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Boepple of Edwardsburg, Mi; and nephew, John Boepple of Edwardsburg and niece, Janet Adams of Arizona.

John was a metallurgist in the automobile industry. He was also employed at Steel Warehouse in South Bend and retiring from CMI Foundry in Bristol in 2010.

In his free time, John enjoyed building computers and stereo equipment. He enjoyed living the "Lake Life" including fishing and boating. Most of all, John adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  John was very friendly, independent until the end but a great neighbor and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held at a later date.
