John Norwood Jr., 71, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his home.

John was born in Gloster, Mississippi to John Wesley Sr. and Iver Lee (Banks) Norwood. He was married to Brenda Faye (Mason) Norwood on August 18, 1971.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Iver Lee; son, John Norwood III and brother, Ezra Norwood and Tommy Lee Norwood.

John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda of Elkhart; daughters, Kutrina (Walter) Norwood-Butler and Sendney Fonville; son, Ariek Mason; brothers, Andrew, Jerry, Kenneth Norwood; sisters, Hattie Slack, Betty Rowan, Hazel Redmond, Eloise Jones, Laura Rasch, Linda Campbell; and grandchildren, Derrick Norwood, McKenna Norwood, Julius Barham and Brandon Mason; great grandchildren, Derriona and Derrick Norwood and a host of nieces and nephews.

John was a Tool and Die Maker with Nibco and Elkhart Brass for many years. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and trustee with Community Missionary Baptist Church. John has helped youth, by taking them fishing, camping, practices and picking apples. John loved traveling and family gatherings. He also enjoyed playing softball and the occasional round of golf. He was a good Christian family man who loved to make people have a good time!

John will have a Memorial Service at 11:00am, Saturday, November 27, 2021 at  Community Missionary Baptist Church, 228 Chapman St., Elkhart and a private inurnment at Rice Cemetery will follow. `
