Obituary

ELKHART —

John R. Humes, 62, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday afternoon from injuries he received after a two vehicle accident on the John Weaver Parkway and Aeroplex Dr. John was born on July 9, 1955 in Plymouth to Delbert R. Humes and Marjorie (Snyder) Ermis. He is survived by his son, Ben R. Humes of Edwardsburg; mother Marjorie Ermis of Elkhart; four siblings, David (Filestea) Humes of Minn., Debbie (Leapon) Lyon of Colo., Eva Mancewicz of Elkhart and Peggy Culligan of Ohio; 12 nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Randy (Bonnie) Rush of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his father Delbert Russell Humes. John worked in the RV Industry in construction and consulting for his entire career.  He owned and operated Heritage Consulting and Contracting; he also worked with and for Randy Rush of Recreation by Design for many years.  John was a dog lover and enjoyed riding his Harley.  His life was working, but he was kind hearted and always willing to help anyone in need.

Friends and relatives may gather from 6-8 pm Monday, June 18, 2018 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Services celebrating John's life will begin at 11:00 am. Tuesday, June 19, with additional visitation 1 hour prior also at Billings. Pastor Tim Sheets of Northside Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
