JONES, Mich. — John L. Hobson, 82, of Jones, passed away at 4:48 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at home, following a sudden illness.
He was born in Hutchinson, Kan., on Sept. 30, 1932, to the late Floyd and Martha (Thurston) Hobson.
He married the love of his life, Clara "Jean" Smith, on July 1, 1955, in Kalamazoo. She survives at home after 60 years of marriage.
Also surviving are his brother, Ed (Diane) Hobson of Elkhart, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a nephew.
In accordance with his wishes, John is to be cremated. No services have been scheduled at this time.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
John worked as a foreman for over 30 years at IMC Metal Finishing (now "R" Components) of Elkhart. He was an avid RC airplane builder and pilot and belonged to the Elkhart County Flight Masters RC Club. He was also a member of VFW Post 6248 of Decatur.
John was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany during the Korean War.
