August 31, 1961 – December 23, 2024
John R. Greenlee, 63, of South Bend, and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Monday afternoon, December 23, 2024 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. A native of Elkhart, John was born on August 31, 1961, a son of Raymond C. and Verna Alice (Siokora) Greenlee. Surviving are his two sons Joshua R. Greenlee, Nicholas T. (Morgan) Greenlee; mother Verna A. Greenlee and three brothers Stephen R. (Melinda) Greenlee, Joseph P. (Ashley Borens) Greenlee, Daniel W. Greenlee; and four nephews and one niece. John was preceded in death by his father Raymond C. Greenlee on September 2, 2000.
John was a proud Crimson Charger with the class of 1979 at Elkhart Memorial High School. He then attended Marian University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He taught for 33 years, 32 of those at Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, where he coached the Junior Varsity Baseball team and was the Academic Athletic Director.
John loved all sports, especially his Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. But his true passion was golf and played it anytime he could. His other true love were his two sons, Joshua and Nicholas, who was just married a few months ago to Morgan, he was so proud and happy to be able to attend and experience that beautiful day. What brought John the most joy was spending time with his children, loved ones and friends.
