John Roger Cox Sr., 81, of Edawrdsburg, Michigan, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 22, 1938 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Fred H. and Elva (Mellin) Cox. He married his true love Sharon Kay Cox on January 3, 1957 in Elkhart. Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Sharon K. Cox, two children, John (Lisa) Cox, Jr., and Kathy (Lloyd) Overholt: he will be greatly missed by 3 grandchildren, Andrew Cox, Alex (Becca) Cox, Sharon Overholt and 2 great grandchildren, Jaxsyn and Logan Cox.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Fred Cox, Jr. preceded him in death.
John led a very interesting and exciting life. He retired from T.R. Arnold & Associated in 2002 after 21 years of service as a federal building inspector, having traveled all over the world and country in this capacity. He formerly worked in the RV Industry, at such manufacturers as Richardson Mobile Homes, Empire RV, Parkwood Homes and Dexter Axle. He also worked as a custodian for Elkhart Community Schools. John was very active in the Moose Lodge, where he served as a Past President of the Potawatomi Lodge and Past Governor or the Moose Lodge. He was Past President of the Elkhart Vintage Auto Club and also was involved with the Cass County Conservation Club.
But most of all, John's family was the center of his life. Per his wishes, services will be private. Burial will be in Kessington Cemetery with Pastor Davy Troxel officiating.
