John Earl Arter Jr., 66, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Greenleaf Health Campus.

John was born on December 5, 1957 in Elkhart, IN to John E. Arter Sr. and Martha (Hall) Salisbury. He married the love of his life, Janice Williams, whom survives.

John is predeceased by his father, John Arter, Sr., and his sister, Karen Solmos.

John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice Williams of Elkhart; mother, Martha Salisbury also of Elkhart; daughter, Haley (Hezekiah Allard) Williams of South Bend; and nieces and nephews, Sheryl, Tiffany, Holly, John, Jeffery and Jordan.

John dedicated 37 years at Sweetwater/Godfrey Marine in Elkhart. He was a dedicated employee and a hard worker. John loved all animals especially his dog, Jasmine.

John was a collector of pocketknives, firearms and flashlights. In his spare time, he liked to go to the shooting the range.

Up until his illness, John enjoyed running errands with his mother, Martha.

John will be missed by his family and work friends.

There be no formal services.  His family will plan a get together at a later date.
