Joann Smallwood, 75, of Elkhart, went Home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Joann was born on December 1, 1948 in Fourmile, KY to the late, Noah and Thelma (Garland) Smallwood. She married the love of her life, Jerry Bottorff on June 1, 1973.

Joann is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Jerry Bottorff on July 29, 2014; son, Randy Lee Hamilton; daughter, Jackie Pretty and brothers, LeRoy and Denny Smallwood; sister-in-law, Nancy Smallwood and brother-in-law, Donald Broughton.

Joann is survived by her children, Rosita Hamilton, Brian (Tamika) Bottorff, Betty Jo Hamilton, Bobbie Hamilton, Joanna (Wilson) Onkst, Jennifer Gray (Steve) and Jerry Keith Bottorff; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Joann was a woman of strong faith and loved reading her Bible every day. She was a former member of Pleasant Valley Bible Church in Elkhart. Her hobbies included taking pictures and sewing by hand in her spare time. In her younger years, Joann roller skated and hula hooping. She also took great pride in decorating her house. Joann admired nature's creatures including the birds and squirrels. She enjoyed listened to gospel music and dancing. Joann took many road trips to Kentucky, to the beach and beyond and always looking forward to the next adventure.

Most of all, Joann loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was soft spoken, had a heart of gold and a giving woman.

A Funeral Service for Joann in Elkhart will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Rev. Donny Greathouse of The Alter Church officiating.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm prior to the start of service at the funeral home.

An additional Funeral Service in Kentucky will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Barbourville Funeral Home, 1196 S. US Highway 25E, Barbourville, KY 40906.

Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm before the start of the service at Barbourville Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the family cemetery, Broughton Smallwood Cemetery in Cannon, KY.
