Joan E. Shriner, 90, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Joan was born in Elkhart, IN on July 4, 1933 to Lloyd and Maude (Van Lieu) Staub. She was married to the love of her life, Howard A. Shriner on July 5, 1953 in Elkhart. Her husband, Howard passed away on August 25, 2013.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Howard; her son, Mark Shriner; granddaughter, Janelle Logan and 7 siblings.

Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Candi (Terry) Kraus of Elkhart; and grandchildren, Laci Kraus (Jimmy) and Cody (Nicole) Kraus.

Joan volunteered with the American Red Cross in the early 1960's. She was a long-time member of the Elkhart Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Joan was a school bus driver with South Bend Junior Academy. She was also a talented floral designer at Pickrell's Flowers.

In her spare time, she stitched together quilts and even designed her daughter's wedding dress. Joan enjoyed acrylic painting. Joan picked up many artistic endeavors in her long life.

Most of all, she was a sweet and loving wife, mom, grandma and friend.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
