Joan J. Pletcher, 84, passed to her rest on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Joan was a native of Mishawaka and was born on December 14, 1932 to the late Joseph and Elsa (Torok) DeGeyter. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son Jack Douglas Bollenbacher, brother Michael DeGeyter, sister Barbara Koch and her faithful German Shephard Gretchen. Joan is survived by her husband of 41 years, Harold W. Pletcher; they married on August 1, 1975; daughter Lynn Boss of Walkerton, step-son David Pletcher of Elkhart; 3 grandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Naval of Ft. Wayne, Jeni (Greg) Heselbarth of Augusta, Ga. and Zak Bollenbacher of Seattle; and 2 great grandchildren. Joan was the owner/operator along with her husband of Verde Greenhouses on State Line Road in Elkhart for 40 years. Joan was a member of CURVES and enjoyed making porcelain doll reproductions. She enjoyed flowers and was an avid landscaper. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. In honoring Joan's wishes, cremation was chosen. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice. Please refrain from sending flowers.
