Joan Moore, 91, of Elkhart, passed away after courageously battling illness on Friday, September 1, 2023, at her home.

Joan was born on July 11, 1932, in Seattle, WA to the late Edgar Stanley Burles and Marion Joyce (Aries) Burles.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Shirley Spaulding; great granddaughter, Tori Moore; grandson-in-law, Walter Hajdaj and son-in-law, Claude "Steve" Sherwood.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Connie Sherwood, Susie Moore, Kathy (Bill) Davies and Debbie (Terry) Davis, all of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Freda (Chandler) Johnson of Reno, NV and Jenny Lord of Seattle, WA.

Joan worked in the RV industry throughout the years. She was an avid reader of mysteries. Joan enjoyed fishing in her younger years. She loved planting flowers and gardening. In her free time, she solved crossword puzzles and watched car races on tv.

Joan was a great mom and "nanny". She was a fighter and yet had a great sense of humor. Joan will be missed by her family and the many friends she's made in her 91 years.

A Graveside Service for Joan will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Prairie Street Cemetery, 401 W. Hively Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46517 with Rev. David Sen officiating.
