Obituary
ELKHART -- Joan F. Harness, 68, of Cone Street, where she had lived for 40 years, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 10, 2007) in Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born June 15, 1938, in Yonkers, N.Y., to Joseph and Anna (Gurka) Mulcahey. On Nov. 19, 1956, in Wabash, she married James L. "Jim" Harness Jr. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2004, in Elkhart.
She is survived by one son, James L. (Robin) Harness III of Gilford; two daughters, Julie (Chet) Nunan of Cassopolis and Jennifer (Tim) Gravit of Elkhart; five grandchildren; one sister, Carol Castenando of Cassopolis; and one brother, Jim (Jean) Mulcahey of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joseph Mulcahey.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. At her request, cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Harness was a homemaker, her family was always her main priority, and she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed birds and feeding them in her backyard.
