He was born March 5, 1968, in Cassopolis, Mich., to Jerry L. and Bonnie J. (Huber) Knight Sr.
He is survived by his companion, Tabitha A. Hibshman, at home; one daughter, Courtney M. Troyer of Goshen; one son, Theron S. Spivey of Nappanee; three brothers, Art (Dusty) Poarch of Mishawaka and Edward "Gene" Poarch and Anthony Knight, both of Elkhart; his father and stepmother, Jerry L. and Diane Knight, both of Elkhart; his mother and stepfather, Bonnie J. and David Farnham, both of Elkhart; and his former wife, Sondra Knight of Osceola.
Friends may call two hours prior to Thursday's 1 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Kevin Woolwine of River of Life Community Church, Elkhart, will officiate. Burial with military honors rendered will follow in Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
Mr. Knight worked at several area recreational vehicle manufacturers over the years, but was employed as an electrician at Heartland RV of Elkhart at the time of his death. He also was a group leader there. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, Harley-Davidson enthusiast and member of the Patriot Guard, a national motorcycle association that escorts the remains of fallen soldiers to their final resting places once returned to the United States.
Mr. Knight was a member of American Legion Post 143 of Bristol and served nearly eight years in the U.S. Navy. He served as boatswain's mate aboard the U.S.S. Elliott, a Navy destroyer that operated in the Gulf of Kuwait during Desert Storm. During this time, he received a commendation for the swift and dignified recovery of a drowning victim while on patrol.
