Obituary

Aug. 20, 1945 - March 23, 2011

ELKHART -- On Wednesday evening, March 23, 2011, Jerri Lynn Van Harlingen passed away at Valley View Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 65.

Jerri was born Aug. 20, 1945, in Elkhart to the late Francis and Adalove (Bunch) Mayhousen. She married Jerry L. VanHarlingen on Nov. 23, 1991, in Elkhart.

He survives as do her daughters, Leandrea Lange (Shawn) and Christina Attkisson (Johnathon), both of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild due very soon.

Jerri was preceded in death by a sister, Queleen Namisnak.

Jerri worked in the office for Dr. Raymond D. Waldman, an optometrist in Elkhart, for 28 years, and formerly worked at Imperial Fabrics. She was a 1963 Elkhart High School graduate and choir member, and a longtime member of Elkhart First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of TOPS. Jerri was a loving wife, mother and grandma who enjoyed singing, knitting and crafts.

A service in memory and celebration of the life of Jerri will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Elkhart First United Methodist Church, 400 W. Mishawaka Road, Elkhart, IN 46517, where friends may call for one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Don Reed will officiate, with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.

If friends so desire, memorials may be given to the church or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
