ELKHART — Jerome Y. Dooley, 75, of Elkhart, passed away following a cardiac event at Elkhart General Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018.

He was born in Fairfield, Alabama, March 26, 1943, to the late Joseph and Virgie (Kitchens) Dooley, and is survived by his first spouse, Linda (Holsomback) Frey, with whom he reconnected in later years.

Also surviving are a son, Larry (Lori) Dooley; stepchildren Randy Buchanan and Tina Puckett; grandchildren Paige and Kyle Dooley; and siblings Norman Freeman and Barbara Dooley.

Preceding him in death was a daughter, a brother and two spouses.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart will host a gathering of Jerome's family and friends from 3 - 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, with a burial following in Olive Cemetery in Elkhart.

In accordance with his wishes, Jerome's last act was to donate the gift of life following his passing.
