ELKHART -- Jeffery A. "Jeff" Harter, 48, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness.
Jeff was born in Elkhart on Feb. 4, 1963, to Robert D. and Nancy L. (Flager) Harter. He married Rosa Mastache on April 7, 1997, in Elkhart.
Surviving are his wife, Rosa, daughter Rocio Ortiz and grandson Jeffery Allen Ortiz, all of Elkhart. Also surviving are his mother, Nancy L. Harter, sister Christine (Chuck) Allison and three brothers, Jim Harter, David (Mona) Harter and Brad Harter, all of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Harter.
Jeff was a wonderful husband, father, son and brother. He was a truck driver for most of his life, most recently with Genesis Products and formerly for Gemstone Products. He was a 1981 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with calling for one hour prior. Pastor Greg Serafino will officiate. Burial will follow at Olive West Cemetery
