ELKHART — Jeannine M. (Koontz) Neumann, 79, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22. She passed away peacefully in her sleep while surrounded by family in her home.
Jeannine was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Elkhart, to the late Leo and Elma (Rumsey) Koontz. She was the oldest of three children.
She graduated from Elkhart Central High School and was employed at CTS Corp. for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, dancing with her husband and teaching swimming.
She met her husband, Wallace Neumann, in Elkhart, where both were working. They were married March 14, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church and had 51 wonderful years together. Jeannine and Wally were long-time members of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
She is survived by husband, Wally of Elkhart, and brother Jerry (Ginny) Koontz of Cassopolis, Mich. Also surviving are her three daughters, Sherry (Steven) Ehle of Davenport, Fla., Yolanda (David) Lindenlaub of Osceola and Melinda (Bradley) Adams of Maineville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Patrick and Dustin Cloud, Brittany Stuber, Ileana, Melinda and Daniel Lindenlaub, Forest and Skyler Adams and Nicholas (Sarah) and Phillip (Ressie) Ehle; and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, Jeffrey Koontz, and grandson Daniel "Danny" Cloud preceded Jeannine in death.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at Lutheran Church of Redeemer, 3300 Benham Ave., Elkhart, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Pastor Steve Reshan will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Reins of Life or the Hospice Foundation.
