Jeanette Alice Light, 88, of Edwardsburg, MI passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at her home.

Jeanette was born on May 10, 1935, in Cassopolis, MI, to the late, Carlisle and Alice (Dixon) Hartsell. She was married to the love of her life, Earl T. Light, on September 22, 1957, in Elkhart. He passed away on November 21, 2018.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Earl; and brother, Delbert Hartsell.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Lori (Jim) Pierce, Lisa (David) Wiggins, both of Elkhart, and Linda (Alan) Pittman of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Katey (Robert) Brumer, Bronson (Maria) Seifer, Elijah (Valerie) and Adrian Wiggins, Nicole (Steven) Miller, and Greg (Sarah) and Aaron Pittman; and 8 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.

Born as a daughter of a farmer, hard work was instilled in Jeanette from an early age. She left Dowagiac, MI with just a suitcase and worked two jobs to put herself through school. She was employed at Whitehall, Miles Lab, and Sears. Jeanette attended North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Elkhart.

She met her future husband, Earl, at Whitehall. They both saved to build their first home in their thirties and lived in the same house for years.

Her dream was to finally live on the lake and when she retired, she had her dream home.

Jeanette planned all the family reunion's and get togethers.

In her spare time, Jeanette enjoyed playing cards. Jeanette was always "on the move" and loved her friends, "the Golden Girls", as family.

For those that knew her, Jeanette had a great smile and was a loving, easy-going lady.

A Memorial Service will be at 6:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1921 Jeanwood Dr, Elkhart, IN 46514.

Fellowship will follow after the service.

Burial will be at Crane Cemetery at a later date.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
