In Loving Memory of Jeanette Fay (Sauder) Cripe
April 19, 1939 – May 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette Cripe of Elkhart on May 5, 2026, at the age of 87.
Jeanette was a compassionate and devoted nurse, a loving mother to her sons Greg and JAB (Brett), and a cherished sister. She graduated from Goshen College in 1961 and spent her career caring for the terminally ill – a calling she embraced with both dedication and love. She met her husband Don through nursing, and his memory lived on with her.
A devout Mennonite, Jeanette deeply loved the Lord and lived by the principle of putting others first. She was an avid reader, with a special love for Christian literature and mysteries, and cherished the Bible as her greatest treasure. She had a special affinity for Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Her life was a shining example of kindness, empathy, and faith.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old County Road 17. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heifer International (www.Heifer.org) or the Mennonite Central Committe (www.MCC.org). Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart is assisting the family with arrangements. Jeanette’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Donations can be made to Heifer International (www.Heifer.org) or the Mennonite Central Committee (www.MCC.org)
